The G.91 was the first Italian combat aircraft designed after WWII. A large number of G.91s served in the Italian Air Force and the Luftwaffe. The G.91s in the Portuguese Air Force saw combat in Africa. Its one of the important ground attack weapons the NATO air forces owned during the Cold War. G.91R was the most widely used version of the G.91 family.
