The first manned Saturn IB flight lifed Apollo 7 into Earth orbit on 11th October 1968. The primary task of this mission was to check out the new Apollo craft that would be used for the up-and-coming Moon flights. Its crew of Wally Schirra, Donn Eisele and Walter Cunningham spent nearly 11 days in orbit, travelling 4.5 million miles / 7,242,000 km and made 163 revolutions of the Earth. In all five Saturn IB rockets were used for American space projects. Besides Apollo 7, three flights to the Skylab space-station were made in 1973, and the final launch as part of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project in 1975. Three Saturn IB rockets are on display; two in Alabama and one at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

	This is a 1/144th scale plastic model kit of an aircraft or helicopter. It does not contain paints and glues unless otherwise stated. Popular kitmakers in this scale include Airfix, Heller, Hobbycraft, Trumpeter, Zvesda and Dragon.
	Manufacturer Information
	Most people have heard of Airfix and a lot of non-modellers only know plastic kits as 'Airfix Kits' (similar to 'Hoover' and vacuum cleaners). Although they had some serious financial troubles last year Airfix have been bought by Hornby who are striving to re-establish the name and create some new models for year. New Releases include the much anticipated Nimrod as well as 4 variants of the Canberra and an assortment of Airfield sets including the RAF and Luftwaffe. Airfix are a good choice for beginners as they make 'starter sets' that contain everything required to complete the model (glues, brushes and paints), This is a much cheaper option than buying everything separately. Quality is not great on most of their kits as tooling tends to be old but again for beginners this is not so much of an issue.
